Anthropic cracks down on Claude relay stations, prohibiting practices such as reselling subscription quotas and disguising clients.

Beating AI News Flash: Anthropic has recently updated its Claude Usage Policy, with the new rules set to take effect on November 12, 2026.

Among the changes, the "No Platform Abuse" section has added new restrictions explicitly prohibiting unauthorized resale, proxying, or otherwise providing third-party access to Claude.

The new rules specifically call out two types of behavior:

First, packaging usage quotas from consumer subscriptions such as Claude Pro and Max into third-party API services and charging for them externally;

Second, disguising the actual product or client being used—for example, making requests from third-party tools masquerade as those from the official client in order to bypass access restrictions.

Merchants that rely on consumer subscription quotas to provide API relay services will face clearer policy restrictions.
