BlockBeats news, November 2 - U.S. Senate Democrats accused Elon Musk's social media platform X of giving preferential treatment to prediction market Polymarket. In a joint letter first disclosed by Semafor, Nevada Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff, Nevada Democratic Senator Jacky Rosen, and Connecticut Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal wrote: "Normally, X allows users to report ads for a variety of reasons. However, when users try to report Polymarket ads through X's standard interface, they are unable to select a reporting option. Other types of ads, including Kalshi's ads, do not have this problem."
The letter, which included screenshots, alleged: "This seemingly unfair special treatment raises questions about whether X is trying to provide Polymarket with an improper competitive advantage, and thereby benefit the U.S. President and his family." Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., has invested in Polymarket and serves as an advisor to the platform.
