BlockBeats news, October 22 - Lighter founder and CEO Vladimir Novakovski said at the Q3 investor meeting: "What we are currently seeking is to obtain DCM (Designated Contract Market) and DCO (Derivatives Clearing Organization) licenses. We have spent a lot of time communicating with CFTC (U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission) staff, sorting out all the core principles there. Many of these principles can already be clearly mapped by the existing framework to how Lighter implements them on-chain. For other principles, there are entirely new implementation methods that are unprecedented for regulators, but they have now spent a lot of time talking with us to understand how they work.
The next plan is to formally submit these license applications next month. After that, regulators have up to 280 days to review. Because we have already completed all this preliminary work, we believe the subsequent process will be relatively smooth. We very much look forward to obtaining these licenses in the United States and opening up to the U.S. market—not for retail, but for the institutional side."
Previously, LIT experienced a decline due to "Robinhood using Bitstamp to launch perpetual contracts in the U.S." At that time, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said in an interview that not choosing Lighter depended on the regulatory structure. Novakovski's remarks at this investor meeting have led the community to once again infer that "after compliance, it can cooperate more closely with Robinhood."
According to HTX market data, affected by a series of remarks, LIT rose as much as 15% within 24 hours and is now priced at $3.76.
