Seeing people in the community talking about Hsin-Ju Chuang, the news of her passing has gained traction.

37 years old, but in the crypto industry, she was highly experienced. In 2017 she joined Stellar, and in 2018 she joined Solana, both times as Head of Growth. Back then Solana was still at the whitepaper stage, with a team of fewer than ten people. Dystopia Labs was founded by her around 2019, focused on developer ecosystems and tech summits, and organized more than 17 Ethereum-related conferences. Many OGs in the space had some degree of contact with her, whether for events or discussing projects.

The industry has seen many people leave, and not many OGs remain.

Not to mention a word as deeply lamentable as "passing," especially at only 37.

Jordy, a crypto industry practitioner, posted on X saying she was one of the nicest people he had ever met, and that she made the industry feel more inclusive. Michael Feng, co-founder of Hummingbot, said he had worked with her many times on conferences, and that she was diligent, ethical, and responsible.

Her death was likely due to overwork. After joining Hack VC, she was diagnosed with Graves' disease, an autoimmune thyroid disease, along with hyperthyroidism and severe insomnia. Her schedule was 13 to 14 hours a day, 6 days a week. In her post she calculated it herself: that worked out to 78 to 84 hours per week. She slept 0 to 4 hours a day.

Very tired, she said she really wanted to resign, but Hack VC's partners would not let her, and even threatened her. According to her, two partners said they would use their industry connections to blacklist her in the industry.

As outsiders, we certainly do not know the details of their internal disputes, and it is hard to judge. There are all kinds of accounts.

But the matter of her being overworked in the industry reminded me of a KOL from not long ago, Dunaige.

A few days ago, news of his death spread in community groups, and several KOLs also confirmed it. Most likely it was health problems caused by irregular routines from speculating in crypto. Very regrettable.
