Sei's collaboration with the Kingdom of Bhutan will further expand the global validator network layout, enhance Bhutan's onshore blockchain infrastructure capacity, and open up space for asset tokenization and innovative economic incentive mechanisms exploration.

On January 20, 2026, the Sei Development Foundation announced a partnership with the Kingdom of Bhutan's Sovereign Wealth Fund Druk Holding and Investments Ltd (DHI) to deploy and operate a Sei Network validator node in Bhutan. The project is led by DHI's InnoTech division and the node is expected to go live in the first quarter of 2026.

Sei stated that this collaboration will significantly enhance Bhutan's national-level capabilities in blockchain infrastructure and is expected to pave the way for data monetization, scientific research and innovation, and fintech applications. Additionally, the partnership will explore asset tokenization in Bhutan and potentially introduce new domestic economic incentive mechanisms. Sei described the collaboration as part of Bhutan's ongoing digital transformation strategy.

The project also received support from Sapien Capital, an investment firm focused on driving growth in the Sei ecosystem's science and innovation sectors.

Eleanor Davies, Head of Science and Innovation at the Sei Development Foundation, stated that Bhutan has long been actively adopting cutting-edge technologies in national economic and social projects. She said, "This collaboration is not only a significant investment in Bhutan's blockchain infrastructure but will also further expand Sei's global validator network coverage, laying the foundation for future innovative collaborations in payment, tokenization, and individual identity."

Phuntsho Namgay, Head of Innovation and Technology at DHI, noted that this collaboration will help strengthen Bhutan's role in the global blockchain innovation landscape and open up opportunities for data monetization, scientific development, and fintech applications. DHI looks forward to continuing its collaboration with Sei to explore more project opportunities that align with Bhutan's digital transformation goals and have real-world impact.
