Farcaster Airdrop Coming Soon? Read the Rules Here

Read this article in 27 Minutes
Moonshot Achieved!

At yesterday's developer conference, the Farcaster team announced an experimental project—airdropping to help developers reach users, with the first airdrop expected to start next week.

The core of this airdrop mechanism is to establish a two-way opt-in reputation system, where developers can set the airdrop's target and the expected actions users are required to take, such as using specific Frames or engaging in specific channels.

Airdrop Rules Interpretation

Users can choose to join the airdrop plan. Users who opt-in and perform the required actions as requested by developers will gradually build a positive reputation, making it more likely for them to receive more airdrop opportunities in the future. Conversely, users who opt-in but fail to perform the specified actions after claiming the airdrop may see an impact on their reputation, potentially reducing their chances of future airdrops.

Ultimately, developers can freely choose target users as the relevant data is permissionless. Founder dwr noted that future Farcaster airdrops will be more inclined to reward users who actually use the product and align with the developer's objectives.

To increase the chances of receiving an airdrop, users need to actively participate in the Farcaster ecosystem, which includes frequent Cast posts, using Frames, and conducting on-chain transactions. The more active a user is, the higher the likelihood of being selected to participate in the airdrop.

The Farcaster team introduced this experimental airdrop plan with deeper strategic considerations in mind. The team aims to increase the number of recharged and active mobile wallets, allowing them to transact within Frames with minimal operations.

dwr revealed that after approximately a month of operation, the number of recharged Warplet wallets on Farcaster has exceeded 60,000, in addition to tens of thousands of mobile wallets connected via MWP.

More recharged and active mobile wallets translate to increased Frame usage, which in turn drives the diverse content on the Farcaster platform. The richer the content, the more reason users have to remain active on Farcaster, establishing complementary relationships with other networks. As users spend more time exploring new on-chain Frames, they are more likely to post Casts and utilize social features, creating a virtuous cycle.

In response to some questions that users may have, the Farcaster team has emphasized the voluntary nature of the project. Users can choose not to participate in the airdrop, or they can choose to immediately exchange the airdrop, but this may affect whether developers are willing to airdrop to that user again in the future. Developers will clearly state what they would like users to do after receiving the airdrop, and the requirements for each airdrop may vary.

Which Developers Are Worth Watching?

Since the airdrop rules clearly indicate a desire for users to explore the various features of the Farcaster protocol and become active users, it naturally starts with the source, which is the developers.

Readers can choose to join different channels or follow the Frames Center to get firsthand information, or they can join BlockBeats' "Web3CN Research Institute" to get the latest Farcaster and crypto news.

Below are the developers associated with the Farcaster protocol that BlockBeats has previously compiled as worth watching, for readers' reference.
