Original Title: "Introduction to Ordinal NFTs (and How to Choose) that 5-Year-Olds Can Understand"

Original Author: 0xWizard

Editor's note: Recently, Mingwen NFT is undoubtedly the hottest narrative. So what are the advantages of Mingwen NFT? And how should you choose? For these questions, cryptocurrency researcher 0xWizard published a "novice-friendly" popular science article on X, and BlockBeats has compiled the original text as follows:

What are the advantages compared to Ethereum NFTs?

All on-chain:

Due to the fact that all the content of the inscription NFT is engraved on the Bitcoin network, your beloved NFT will be permanently stored on the world's most secure chain. This is quite different from most ETH NFTs, which store their content on IPFS.

What is Mingwen Number, Recursive Mingwen, Curse Mingwen, and Rare Cong?

铭文号： (Translation:

Inscription number:)

Due to the fact that each inscription NFT is assigned an inscription number in order of engraving (starting from 0 and increasing sequentially), as time goes by, the current inscription number has reached millions, which increases the fun of collecting and the basis for value judgment.

Usually people believe that NFTs with earlier inscription numbers have greater collection value, such as the sub10k series (the first ten thousand inscribed NFTs).

Recursive Inscription:

Due to the 4M limit on content imposed by taproot segregated witness, the size of the inscription content is restricted. In order to overcome this limitation and introduce greater flexibility, the Inscription Protocol has designed a format of mutual reference called "Recursive Inscription".

In this way, you can see richer and clearer expressions in the inscriptions. For example, ordibots 3D uses recursive inscriptions to achieve AR and high definition, and the NFT engraving cost of each inscription is very low.

Curse Inscription:

The curse inscription was originally a protocol bug, and some inscriptions were not "normally" included in the original serial number sequence. Therefore, inscriptions known as "cursed" were given negative numbers.

The following protocol bugs have been fixed and there will be no new curse inscription NFTs with negative numbers in the future.

稀有聪：

"稀有聪" in English is "Rare Cong".

Due to the inscription NFT, each one is engraved on the Satoshi. In order to increase the fun, the inscription protocol defines some special Satoshis called "rare Satoshis", such as the first Satoshi mined in each block. NFTs engraved on these Satoshis usually have a higher price because rare Satoshis are more valuable than ordinary Satoshis. My avatar is a wizard engraved on a rare Satoshi.

How to choose inscription NFT?

Due to the various interesting aspects of Mingwen NFT, choosing Mingwen NFT will be a relatively subjective and personal process.

For example, those inscriptions that are ranked higher have collection value, while recursively inscribed ones have continuous technological innovation value. Cursed inscriptions are similar to misprinted stamps and will no longer be added, while rare ones have a floor value (even if NFTs are not valuable, the tokens can still be sold).

It looks dazzling, but in fact, it's all about who has a stronger "consensus".

In my opinion, there are three types of strongest consensus at present:

1. Strong Community

Like a great wizard, a series of community events and promotions have helped the inscription NFT gain more and more attention. And with the recent rapid rise of Fox, we can see the power of the community. In the long run, I believe that the community is the most important factor. Without a strong community, attention and traffic will be constantly diluted by new concepts and series.

2.铭文号靠前 First is First 2. Inscription number is prioritized, First is First.

In the sub10k series, there are some good collections. Currently, the leading one is the Little Frog, which is considered the first 10k series (although there is another one with reputation issues that will not be introduced).

3. Leading companies in various sub-sectors

This will attract attention and traffic from those who are interested in this type of niche field. For example: ordibots3d in the technology innovation category, DaE in the artist category, and ohm in the rare intelligence category.
