I will return to OpenAI as CEO. Greg Brockman will step down as CEO and become President. Ilya Sutskever will continue to lead our research team, and Sam Altman will step down from his role as CEO and become Chairman of the Board. The new initial board will be chaired by Bret Taylor and include Larry Summers and Adam D'Angelo.

I have never been so excited about the future. I am extremely grateful for everyone's hard work in uncertain and unprecedented circumstances, and I believe our resilience and spirit have set us apart in the industry. I am very, very pleased with the possibility of us successfully achieving our mission.

Before we begin with the following content, I would like to express some gratitude.

I love and respect Ilya, and I believe he is a beacon in this field and a treasure to humanity. I have zero ill will towards him. Although Ilya will no longer serve as a board member, we hope to continue our working relationship and are discussing how he can continue his work at OpenAI.

I would like to thank Adam, Tasha, and Helen for collaborating with us to find the best solution that serves our mission. I am thrilled to continue working with Adam and sincerely appreciate the significant effort that Helen and Tasha have put into this process.

Also, thanks to Emmett for playing a crucial and constructive role in helping us achieve this result. Emmett's dedication to AI security and balancing the interests of stakeholders is evident.

Mira performed exceptionally well throughout the entire process, selflessly serving the mission, team, and company. She is an incredible leader, and without her, OpenAI would not be OpenAI. Thank you.

Greg and I are partners running this company. We have never quite figured out how to convey that on the organizational chart, but we will. In the meantime, I just wanted to clarify. Thank you for everything you have done since the beginning, and for the way you handled things from this incident until last week.

Leadership team - Mira, Brad, Jason, Che, Hannah, Diane, Anna, Bob, Srinivas, Matt, Lilian, Miles, Jan, Wojciech, John, Jonathan, Pat, etc. - is clearly ready to operate the company under any circumstances. They say that one way to evaluate a CEO is to look at how you select and train your potential successors; on this metric, I have done much better than I imagined. I am well aware that the company is in the hands of great people, and I hope everyone is clear about that. Thank you.

To all members of our team: I believe there will be books written about this period, and I hope the first sentence they say is how amazing the entire team was. We have gone through all of this and have not lost a single employee. You have steadfastly supported each other, this company, and our mission. One of the most important things for a team building secure AGI is the ability to handle pressure and uncertainty while maintaining good judgment. A+ to all of you. Thank you.

Satya, Kevin, Amy, and Brad have been incredible partners throughout the entire process, with the right priorities from start to finish. If we couldn't achieve our main goals, they would support us and be ready to welcome all of us. We clearly made the right choice to work with Microsoft, and I'm glad our new board will have them as non-voting observers. Thank you.

Thank you for continuing to use our services, both our partners and users. We truly appreciate the support and love that has been poured out to us, which has helped us all get through this difficult time. We have not lost any customers, and this fact will drive us to work even harder to serve you. We are all happy to be back at work.

It is important that people experience the benefits and prospects of artificial intelligence and have the opportunity to shape it. We have always believed that excellent products are the best way to achieve this goal. I will work with Brad, Jason, and Anna to ensure that our firm commitment to users, customers, partners, and governments around the world is clear.

Brett, Larry, and Adam will work very hard to complete an extremely important task, which is to establish a board of directors with different perspectives, improve our governance structure, and oversee an independent review of recent events. I look forward to working closely with them on these critical steps so that everyone can have confidence in the stability of OpenAI.
