OpenAI founder's own words: The development process of Worldcoin will be full of challenges.

On July 24th, Worldcoin released a public letter signed by Sam Altman, announcing the official launch of WLD. Worldcoin was proposed by Altman in 2019, inspired by the economist's theory of "Universal Basic Income (UBI)." BlockBeats has compiled and translated the full text of Sam Altman's public letter.

Three years ago, we founded Worldcoin with the goal of establishing an identity and financial network that everyone can have.

Today, Worldcoin was officially launched. If successful, we believe that Worldcoin can greatly increase economic opportunities, expand reliable solutions to distinguish between humans and artificial intelligence, while protecting privacy, realizing global democratic processes, and ultimately demonstrating a potential path to UBI funding for artificial intelligence.

Worldcoin consists of a privacy-protecting digital identity (World ID) and a digital currency (WLD) obtained solely by humans in accordance with the law. We hope to take measures in places where the rules are not clear, such as in the United States, to benefit more people.

Users can now download the first wallet compatible with the protocol, World App, and reserve their share. After accessing Orb, a biometric verification device, users will receive a World ID. This allows users to prove themselves as a real and unique person online while maintaining complete privacy. As the global distribution of Orbs continues to increase, users can find the closest Orb and reserve a time for verification through World App and worldcoin.org.
