Bankless: How to get double happiness while airdropping Layer2

Read this article in 14 Minutes
One interaction, double airdrop protocol list

How To Double Up on Layer 2 Airdrops
William M. Peaster, Bankless

There are many Ethereum Layer2 extensions that will issue native tokens.

These applications on Layer2 will also issue their own tokens.

Interact with one on-chain activity now and may receive two airdrops in the future.

So Bankless's strategy will show you how to get a possible "double" airdrop in the future while experiencing Layer2 technology early on.

Where to look for double opportunities

Looking for airdrops is part pastime and part on-chain work for modern Degen. Right now, the frontier of Web3 is where the best potential opportunity to effectively get "double" airdrops can be found.

What I mean by that is to perform an interaction to qualify for a future Token airdrop for two different projects.

To find these opportunities, start here:

Find a promising Ethereum Layer2 that has not yet issued tokens -- or in the case of Optimism, the project plans multiple phases of Token airdrops in the future.

Find and use applications that have not yet issued native tokens on these Layer2.

Keep in mind that this strategy is not foolproof. It may cause you to miss out on trying Layer2 or Dapps that still haven't released your native Token!

There will be quite a few "double" airdrops early in the life cycle of the thriving Layer2 ecosystem. Find your niche.

So, if you're interested, consider trying some tokeless Dapps on candidate Layer2, so that if any of these projects + rollups end up airdropping native tokens to early adopters, you'll be one of those users.

As for the specific Layer2 targets: Optimism, zkSync and Arbitrum seem to be low-hanging fruit.

For example, we already know that Optimism is continuing multiple rounds of OP Token airdrops, and that the zkSync project hasConfirm your Token plan. Arbitrum's team has been silent on the Token discussion, but seems ready to issue tokens for community collaboration.

This leaves us with the choice of tokenless specific applications that are currently available on these Layer2. I'll help you get to the point by showing you some projects that fit the bill...

First, cross-chain Bridges

There are many layer2-centric cross-chain bridge projects that have yet to launch tokens.

Hop launched its Token Hop earlier this year. It is likely that several cross-chain Bridges will be airdropped retroactively in the coming months to maintain liquidity.

Some of the cross-chain Bridges that may eventually issue their own tokens include:

Bungee: Support Arbitrum, Optimism and other EVM L1;

deBridge: Supports Arbitrum and other EVM L1;

Mosaic by Composable Finance: Supports Arbitrum and other EVM L1;

Orbiter Finance: Support zkSync, Arbitrum, Optimism and other EVM L1;

LI. The FI transferto. Xzy: Supports Arbitrum, Optimism and other EVM L1.

Some of these projects, such as Orbiter Finance, may not have been fully audited, so use with caution.

However, these cross-chain Bridges currently offer some of the most obvious potential "double" airdrop candidates.

Other Layer2 projects that do not issue coins

In addition to the bridge, you can also try some of the DeFi, NFT, and Wallet projects on Layer2 that haven't been costed yet:

Argent

ArgentIs a mobile social recovery wallet that supports Ethereum and zkSync Layer2. Argent offers Layer2 DeFi investment opportunities based on Aave, Lido and Yearn protocols in zkSync network.

Argent may offer you the opportunity to earn zkSync tokens through a series of integrations.

Potential strategies:

Use Argent to lend DAI or USDC via Aave on zkSync;

Use Argent to pledge ETH via Lido on zkSync;

Use Argent to invest ETH, DAI, USDC, or WBTC into The Yearyearn protocol in zkSync.

Cozy

Cozy FinanceIs an open source, insurance-like protocol that allows people to create automated DeFi protection marketplaces.

Earlier this year, the project added support for Arbitrum and remains tokenless. Providing liquidity, borrowing, or investing in Cozy, where you might have access to Cozy + ARBI tokens, is one possibility.

Potential strategies:

Use on CozyProtected InvestingFunction;

Deposit funds on Cozy to provideTo protect the;

In the CozyTo borrow money.

(Note: Cozy does not work for U.S. users.)

DeFi Saver

DeFi SaverIs a good DeFi management platform, like a personal on-chain control center.

The project even lets you simulate popular DeFi operations, so you can see how the trade works behind the scenes. Earlier this year, the project launched support for Arbitrum and Optimism, and while the team has not indicated plans to airdrop tokens to its Layer2 users, the possibility remains.

Potential strategies:

On Arbitrum or OptimismThrough the DeFi SaverTo make a trade;

Use DeFi Saver on Arbitrum or OptimismAave integration.

Quixotic

QuixoticIt is currently the largest market for NFT transactions on Optimism.

Perhaps one day it will choose to launch a Token like other NFT markets, such as SuperRare's RARE. So buying and selling NFT on the platform may help you "double" your Quixotic Token (if it happens) as well as stage 2 OP airdrops.

Potential strategies:

Buy NFT on Quixotic;

Sell NFT on Quixotic.

Yield agreement

Yield ProtocolArbitrum is a fixed-rate lending agreement that activated support for Arbitrum in March 2022.

The project's FAQ states: "In the long run, we want the Yield protocol to be community-owned," so there seems to be a high degree of certainty about issuing tokens. Whether this Token will be implemented on Arbitrum or Ethereum remains to be seen, but Yield Protocol is a project worth watching anyway.

Potential strategies:

Through the Yield Protocol on ArbitrumThe loan;

Through the Yield Protocol on Arbitrumborrowing;

On Arbitrum, it is the Yield ProtocolProvide liquidity.

conclusion

Simply put, find layer2s that might perform retrospective airdrops, use cool uncoin-issued DApps on those Layer2s -- and sit back and wait.

Of course, things may not always be that simple -- for example, you may have to work on broader projects, for exampleThe Arbitrum Odyssey(now suspended) to lock Token allocations.

This is a low-risk, speculative strategy prepared for a bear marketYou can move on now. But there are a lot of things we don't know: how the potential Layer2 Token distribution will work, or which projects will roll out Token economics, etc.

However, we are sure that most Layer2 will probably roll out tokens. Some of these Dapps on Layer2 may also launch their own tokens.

Therefore, a simple way to locate these potential "double" airdrops is to try as many candidates as possible, and then wait for the answers to be revealed at some future date.
