Beating AI News Flash: Google releases video generation model Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash. The new version can generate videos up to 15 seconds long, a 50% increase over the previous generation. The price for 720p video generation is reduced by 30% to $0.07 per second, meaning a 15-second video costs only $1.05.
A major improvement in Omni 1.2 Flash is better consistency of characters and visuals during continuous video edits. For example, users can sequentially change the background of the same video to a forest, a stable, and a castle via chat while preserving the original characters, actions, and camera angles. The new version also improves lip-sync for multi-person dialogue and fixes sudden frame jumps during continuous camera movement.
In Arena's preliminary leaderboard on November 5, Omni 1.2 Flash ranked first in both text-to-video and image-to-video, and third in video editing.
The new model is now available via the Gemini API and integrated into Flow and Google Vids. The 15-second video generation feature in the Gemini App is gradually rolling out to Google AI Ultra users.
