BlockBeats news, November 5 — Wall Street had previously worried that Democrats would win big in the U.S. midterm elections, but the election results instead pushed Microsoft Corp. shares to a record high.
According to data from the BIT stock platform, Microsoft shares rose as much as 7% on Wednesday, hitting $559.15, a record high. This was Microsoft's largest single-day gain since late July. The stock is now up nearly 60% from its 2026 low of $349.20.
Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress and also won gubernatorial elections in Texas, Ohio, and Georgia. Leaders in these states had previously pledged to strengthen regulation of data centers. Investors are betting that a slowdown in AI infrastructure buildout will benefit large companies that already have computing capacity. These companies can maintain pricing power while facing less pressure from ongoing capital expenditure. By contrast, emerging cloud service providers (Neoclouds) will be hit the hardest.
