Grok Bot Reportedly Tightens Quotas Abruptly, Musk Responds: Service Costs Too High to Sustain

Beating AI News Flash: xAI's AI Agent product Grok Bot has recently received a large number of user complaints. Some paying users have found that their weekly usage quota is suddenly being consumed unusually fast. One user saw usage jump from 44% to 87% in just 24 minutes; another went to sleep with half the quota used and woke up to find it at 100%, without running any tasks in between.

Many users suspect that the platform suddenly cut the quota midway through the weekly reset cycle, possibly by nearly half. Grok Bot can continuously execute tasks for users through cloud computers, browsers, and external tools. It is included in some paid subscriptions, and usage quotas typically reset weekly.

In response to users demanding a quota reset, Musk said: "The cost of providing the Grok Bot service, relative to revenue, is already so high that it is unsustainable."
