Beating AI News: ByteDance today launched the "Jimeng Short Drama Studio," putting screenwriting, character design, storyboarding, video generation, and post-production into a single platform.
The script model DreamScript supports parsing 100,000-word novels, continuously generating up to 100 episodes of scripts, and can also check plot conflicts and character settings. The storyboard model DreamShot provides a 3D director's console that allows advance adjustment of camera positions and camera movements to preview shooting effects. Characters, costumes, and scenes in the script are automatically organized into an asset library for reuse in subsequent shots. After generation, if a certain shot is unsatisfactory, it can still be reshot individually.
The most suitable feature for short dramas going global is "remake and conversion." Upload an already-filmed short drama, and AI will break down the characters, scenes, props, and shots, then regenerate the visuals according to the target region, art style, and aspect ratio, preserving the original plot rhythm and camera language as much as possible—equivalent to using the original footage to remake an overseas version.
Many of these features come from ByteDance's Xiaoyunque. In March this year, Xiaoyunque launched a short drama Agent, and by August it already had remake and conversion. On October 24, 36Kr disclosed that Xiaoyunque had been merged into Jimeng but still retains an independent entry point.
