Apple falls 1.44% in pre-market trading, iPhone Duo screens successively suffer damage, hinge design may face readjustment.

BlockBeats news, October 26 - According to BIT (Bit.com) market data, Apple's US stock fell 1.44% in pre-market trading. On the news front, Apple's first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, has been experiencing screen damage near the hinge since its launch in major markets on October 23. Photos uploaded by users show that some devices have white ray-like cracks emanating from the center of the hinge and extending to the lower right corner of the screen.

Industry insiders believe that the defects are concentrated in the same position on the hinge and may be related to the hinge design, and Apple may have to redesign the relevant structure. Reports say that Apple faced hinge supply issues during the R&D phase. The original primary supplier, Amphenol of the US, was replaced by Shin Zu Shing of Taiwan due to production yields falling short of expectations, but the latter also faced production difficulties and had to supply by screening "golden samples" that met standards.

Apple previously stated that the hinge of the iPhone Duo contains more than 100 components and uses a 3D-printed hinge module. Since the product has entered mass production, Apple may need to resolve the defects by reducing hinge components and other methods while minimizing design changes.

The report points out that the hinge issue may affect product delivery and sales performance. Apple is said to have provided suppliers with expectations showing that, as of the end of this year, the supply of components corresponding to the full-device production capacity of the iPhone Duo is about 6 million units. Another report says that component supplier Fine M-Tec has stated that the recent quality issues with related products are not related to the assembly of the components it supplies.
