CZ Talks About the "Four Nots" Financial Management Principle: No Stocks, No Real Estate Speculation, No Crypto Trading, No Excessive Cash Hoarding

BlockBeats News, September 1st. Binance founder CZ recently attended Bitcoin Asia 2026 in Hong Kong and gave an interview to Hong Kong 01, where he shared his personal journey and investment philosophy. CZ was born in rural Jiangsu, moved to Canada at the age of 12, worked at McDonald's and a gas station in Vancouver, then studied computer science at McGill University. He later worked in fintech in Tokyo and New York. By the age of 25, he was leading a team of about 60 people at Bloomberg with an annual salary of $390,000.

In 2005, CZ started a fintech company in Shanghai, but after running it for 8 years, he left with his shares reduced to zero. In 2013, after getting involved with Bitcoin, he sold his house in Shanghai and put the money into Bitcoin. The price then dropped by about two-thirds and remained flat for about a year and a half. In 2017, CZ founded Binance and raised $15 million through an ICO. The platform's token dropped 40% on the first day of trading, but Binance became the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume after about 5 months.

CZ stated that most of his personal assets are still in cryptocurrency. He follows the "Four No's" wealth management principle: no stocks, no real estate speculation, no short-term trading, and no hoarding cash. The "no short-term trading" does not mean he does not hold cryptocurrency but that he refrains from day trading. His strategy mainly involves long-term holding, only selling a small amount of assets when needed for spending.

Regarding real estate, CZ believes that the time and effort required for buying, transferring, and selling property are not worthwhile in terms of time cost. As for stocks, he mentioned that given his asset size, holding a small amount of stocks would not make a significant impact. He also called holding fiat currency the "silliest investment approach" as cash continuously depreciates. Therefore, he only keeps funds needed for daily expenses and converts more when necessary. He also shared a decision-making framework: slow down for significant and irreversible decisions, while small and reversible decisions can be quickly executed and continuously adjusted.

CZ mentioned that he mainly invests in early-stage projects through YZiLabs and continues to fund them during market downturns. In the past six months, YZiLabs has invested in nearly 200 projects, with about 80% focusing on Web3 and 20% in the AI field. He believes that these investments may yield good returns in the next one to two years.
