OpenAI's President Acknowledges Kimi K3 Is "Quite Good," Whether GPT will be distilled remains unclear

According to Motion Intelligence Monitoring, OpenAI President and Co-founder Greg Brockman acknowledged that the new Kimi K3 model from the dark side of the moon is "quite good." However, he stated that it is still too early to determine whether Kimi has enhanced its capabilities through distillation of the OpenAI model, and OpenAI will continue to monitor the situation.

Previously, White House officials accused the dark side of the moon of improperly using American AI models. Anthropic has also raised similar concerns. The dark side of the moon has not responded yet.

Brockman also cited estimates suggesting that the gap between Chinese models and American models may now be only 4 months. He believes that the key to future competition is not whether the model is open source, but rather who can accomplish the task at a lower cost.
