According to Trend Watch Beating, White House Chief Technology Officer Michael Kratsios accused the Dark Side of the Moon of training Kimi K3 using Anthropic's Fable. He claimed that the Dark Side of the Moon also developed an internal platform to mass-call US models and evade detection. The post did not provide any public evidence, and the Dark Side of the Moon has not responded yet.
Hermes Agent developer Nous Research's co-founder Teknium then mimicked this sentence structure. He stated that Anthropic, to train Fable, scraped his own GitHub, X, Reddit, Discord, and Facebook posts. He then added, "They are actually distilling everyone on Earth."
Teknium was clearly being satirical. Web scraping and model distillation are not the same. Anthropic openly acknowledges that its model training data includes publicly available internet information. Teknium's point of contention is: when US models absorb content from the entire web, it's called training, but when Chinese models learn from US models, it's labeled as theft.
