Culpium: TSMC Issues Price Hike Notice to All Advanced Node Customers

BlockBeats News, June 23rd. Semiconductor industry reporter Tim Culpan, based on industry sources, reported exclusively on his founded Culpium that since the beginning of this year, TSMC's management has been asking the business development and sales teams to find ways to increase fees. Sources said that TSMC, seeing memory chip manufacturers successfully raising prices due to industry buoyancy, also hopes to share in this round of price increase benefits. The management has asked the sales team to communicate the price increase by combining it with TSMC's technological leadership and value proposition, emphasizing to customers the competitive advantage brought by its advanced process and manufacturing capabilities, thus paving the way for price increases at multiple process nodes in the future.

According to TSMC's disclosure to customers, all advanced process nodes will experience a price hike, including all technology nodes of 7nm and below (more advanced). This means that the range of price increases has expanded several times beyond what customers were previously concerned about. Data shows that the 3nm process accounted for only 25% of TSMC's wafer revenue in the first quarter of this year, while the entire advanced process product portfolio accounted for 75% of wafer sales.

It is reported that some price increase measures have already begun to be implemented; even customers who have not yet been formally executed have been asked to incorporate a higher cost structure in advance into their purchase orders. As for the specific price increase, it is still difficult to confirm accurately. There are discrepancies in the data provided by the sources, indicating that the magnitude of the price increase may vary depending on the customer, process node, and product category. However, the current market generally believes that the increase is in the range of about 5% to 10%.
