Sui Official: Numerous network validators have rejected transactions from the hacker's address. Cetus Protocol plans to return the stolen funds to the community

BlockBeats News, May 22nd, Sui's official statement indicated, "We have learned that one of Cetus' smart contracts was attacked today, resulting in a loss of approximately $223 million. Following the incident, Cetus has paused its smart contract to prevent further fund theft.

Cetus is closely collaborating with other DeFi protocols, the Sui Foundation, and validators of the Sui network to collectively protect the entire ecosystem. Numerous validators have already identified the addresses involved in the case and will reject transactions from these addresses until further notice.

The Cetus team is actively exploring fund recovery options and plans to return the stolen funds to the community. Cetus will release a comprehensive incident report.

The Sui Foundation and the entire ecosystem will fully support Cetus in responding to this incident."

Cetus's losses in this event have exceeded the protocol's own TVL and circulating market cap, while Sui has transitioned from a "public chain" to a "centralized permissioned database."
This is an extremely precise mathematical attack, where the attacker leveraged a vulnerability in the `checked_shlw` function by meticulously calculating specific parameters to gain billions of dollars worth of liquidity at the cost of 1 token.
