The phishing toolkit Inferno Drainer has announced permanent cessation after stealing nearly $70 million from over 100,000 users since February of this year.
According to BlockBeats news on November 27th, Inferno Drainer's team announced in a Telegram group on November 26th that they will permanently shut down. Inferno Drainer provided users with phishing tools and took a 20% commission from the funds stolen from users. According to the analysis of Web3 anti-fraud platform Scam Sniffer, Inferno Drainer has stolen nearly $70 million from over 100,000 victims since February. However, the Inferno Drainer team claims that the stolen amount is actually over $80 million.
Blockchain security company CertiK stated that Inferno Drainer is "one of the most destructive phishing toolkits to the community", and although it has been shut down, there are still "a lot of other providers" active, including competitors Pink Drainer and Angel Drainer. The latter released an update on November 25th to help users drain attackers' wallets on more blockchains.
