BlockBeats report, September 26th, cryptocurrency venture capital firm Paradigm announced on Tuesday the launch of what they call a "groundbreaking" policy lab, which will become a "gathering place" for academics, policy experts, lawyers, and technical experts. The team will produce "cutting-edge research, commentary, and advocacy" on the most important policy issues facing cryptocurrency and other cutting-edge technologies.
As part of the launch plan, Paradigm Policy Lab announced two inaugural academic researchers, Primavera De Filippi from the Berkman Klein Center at Harvard University and Agostino Capponi from Columbia University. They will research "regulatory equivalence" - a term used to describe the comparability of legal and technical constraint systems and how to achieve the same policy outcomes through regulatory or technical architecture.
BlockBeats previously reported that on September 7th, the US Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service proposed regulatory measures for cryptocurrency brokers. According to the Wall Street Journal on September 21st, executives in the cryptocurrency industry still desire growth, but the US market is no longer part of their plans.
This launch of the Policy Lab is aimed at filling the gaps in cryptocurrency regulation. Rodrigo Seira, co-leader of the Policy Lab, stated in an interview with The Block that "the core goal of the lab is to influence medium to long-term policies."

Seira and Brendan Malone wrote in their blog post: "Over the past year, Paradigm has established itself as a policy leader, covering everything from fighting for cryptocurrencies in court, to convening thought leaders, to publishing policy-centered research."

This September, Paradigm's voice in legal regulation has been exploring more frequently. On September 2nd, Paradigm experienced a change in the head of the legal department and hired Alex Grieve as the head of the policy team. A week later, Paradigm published an article on its official website discussing the impact of sanctions and censorship on blockchain infrastructure, stating that OFAC should not require any blockchain base layer participants to review sanctioned addresses. On September 12th, Paradigm announced that it will work with a16z crypto, Coinbase, and others to develop clear and progressive cryptocurrency regulations in Texas.
