Former Asian NFT artists will appear in the Tezos NFT exhibition area of Art Basel Hong Kong in 2022

Tezos & Art Basel Hong Kong 2022


Generative NFT will make a splash at this year's Hong Kong Art Basel, powered by the energy-saving public chain Tezos provide support. The "NFT + Never-ending Art World" exhibition was held from May 27th to 29th. It was the first Tezos NFT exhibition at Art Basel in Hong Kong. It exhibited more than 20 contemporary digital artists from all over the world. In Hall 1A of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, the "NFT + Never-ending Art World" exhibition has an exclusive exhibition space of 250 square meters, which will show Brunei, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea through projections A large number of works by well-known generative digital artists in other places. The exhibition also includes artists from other parts of the world, including North American and European artists, mostly from Bulgaria, Canada, France, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland and the United States.


The participating artists include Bjorn Calleja, a famous Filipino painter and cross-border artist, whose works reflect the relationship between human beings at the micro and macro levels The fusion of nature; award-winning Singaporean artist Yao Shiyun fuses traditional Chinese ink painting with contemporary new media; Chinese artist Song Ting created the first NFT to be auctioned at China Guardian, one of the largest auction houses in the world; There is also the French-Canadian artist Nicolas Sassoon, whose works feature pixel-style graphics and characters, and have been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Whitney Museum of Art in the United States, the Victoria and Albert Museum in the United Kingdom, and the Center Pompidou.



The exhibition will also feature works by well-known artists from around the world: Nicolas Sassoon (France), Qingnan Tan (Random Combo) (China), Chaeseok (CS) Lim (Korea), Lionel Radisson (makio135) ( France), Yazid Azahari (Brunei), Munira Hamzah (Mumu the stan) (Malaysia), Iskra Velitchkova (Bulgaria), Michal Zancan (France), Sarah Ridgley (USA), Aleksandra Jovani (Serbia), Park Se Jin (08AM ) (South Korea), Yiwen Fan (Reva (China), Matt DesLauriers (Canada), Wieslaw Borkowski (baiwei) (Poland).


This exhibition features the first interactive installation created in collaboration with FXhash, the mainstream generative NFT marketplace for Tezos. Visitors will be able to interact with the installation and experience real-time Cast exclusive generative NFT, display it in the installation at the same time, and send it to the visitor's NFT wallet as a gift.The installation aims to provide a real-time design experience of generative artwork, which will update the works on the wall as the generated artwork changes in real time, Unique NFTs created by world-renowned artists will also change. Interactive art installations involving artists such as Yazid Azahari, Sarah Ridgley, Marcelo Soria-Rodriguez, Ryan Bell, Jinyao Lin, Aluan Wang, Max Oshima (Lunarean) and Aleksandra Jovani. People will Generative NFT is regarded as the cooperation between "human" and "machine". Artists create algorithms that can independently generate works, triggered by user input information, and generate unique artworks according to the artist's creative ideas.  


The The interactive installation is based on relevant generation of artist works, and it is expected to create 5,000 - 8,000 different versions to be given to visitors.In order to interact with the installation, visitors have to scan the QR code in the exhibition, trigger the real-time casting of new artworks, and then project them in the exhibition . All in real-time, giving viewers the chance to be the first to cast their own generative artwork. These NFTs will be minted on the Tezos blockchain and acquired through the Kukai wallet with the Tezos browser. At the time of minting, visitors directly authorize logins to social media accounts, and wallets are automatically created.


Singaporean visual artist Yao Shiyun commented on this exhibition: "Throughout the history of art, the definition of art has evolved over time. The entry of NFT into the new Art Basel shows that artists and collectors around the world recognize its value. The legitimacy of such collectibles has grown beyond the cryptosphere and social media. For artists like me, NFTs provide a valuable platform to further hone their craft while being able to connect with a community of millions of NFT creators, empowering artists around the world.”


Yao Shiyun is a well-known contemporary artist in Singapore. Her works reinterpret traditional Chinese ink painting techniques through new media and performance art. To date, her work has received critical acclaim both domestically and abroad, and in 2011 she was commissioned by the Singapore Art Museum (Singapore's first museum entirely dedicated to contemporary visual art), and Conversations with Trees was a 2012 Sovereign One of the shortlisted works of the Asian Art Award, won the People's Choice Award of the Sovereign Asian Art Award, and was finally auctioned at Christie's Asian Auction House. In 1999 and 2007, Yao Shiyun also won the Excellence Award in the abstract category of the UOB Annual Painting Competition.


Overall, the largest increase in art sales worldwide was in Asia, with a total increase of 31%. Places such as Hong Kong SAR, Singapore and Japan contributed the most to this growth. While U.S. buyers still accounted for the largest share of total sales in 2021, Asian collectors accounted for one-third of global auction totals and nearly half (46%) of all bids, buying many lots above $5 million. This trend also appears in the NFT field. Today, four of the five countries in the world with the most interest in NFTs are located on the African continent, with Central and Southeast Asia accounting for 35% of the $22 billion global NFT industry. The Asian continent has a strong NFT atmosphere, and the exhibition aims to showcase the astonishing rise of NFT art and its potential for the traditional art world. Generative artwork is also one of the focuses of this exhibition, which integrates art and technology.

FX Hash is an open platform where artists can issue generated tokens stored in the Tezos blockchain , generating token is a random output program. Once the generation token is activated (at the discretion of the artist), anyone with a Tezos wallet can mint their own unique iteration of the generation token. Each iteration produces a unique piece, which is stored as an NFT on the Tezos blockchain. NFTs are FA2 compliant and thus can be exchanged in the Tezos ecosystem like other NFTs.
