Will Blockscan Chat, a new centralized instant messaging tool on Etherscan, be a flash in the pan?

On January 26, Etherscan, an Ethereum blockchain browser, tweeted "Wondering what this is...?" It also included a screenshot of a tweet with a message notification icon, suggesting that information could be exchanged on Blockscan Chat, which triggered a wide discussion among cryptographic users and many Kols.

Blockscan Chat 有哪些功能及特色

Blockscan Chat is an Ethereum wallet-to-wallet instant messaging platform from Blockscan, the team behind Etherscan. Users can log in via Web3 wallets and currently support MetaMask and Wallet Connect.  

同时，Blockscan Chat 还支持扫描二维码进行多设备登录。例如用户从一台 PC 设备登录后，可以通过钱包 App 扫描二维码，再从具有相同钱包地址的另一台移动端设备登录，该二维码为一次性，有效期是一分钟。

登录后，用户可在 Blockscan Chat 上通过输入钱包地址或搜索 ENS（以太坊域名）找到对方，可以与任何 EOA（External Owned Accounts 以太坊外部账号）或非合约地址进行聊天，目前不支持合约或代币地址的登录。

In addition, users will also be notified on Etherscan when they receive messages.

由于该服务是在 Etherscan 的服务器上运行，消息在链下完成发送和接收，也不会在区块浏览器上公开，因此用户在使用过程中不需要支付 gas 费，没有任何成本。不过，消息虽然是通过 SSL 传输（Secure Sockets Layer 安全套接字协议），但没有进行端到端加密。

Blockscan Chat is currently in beta testing, where each wallet can initiate up to 50 new Chat sessions.

Blockscan Chat also has built-in "Do Not Disturb messages," "Anti-spam," "Blacklist," and "Chat archive."

通过反垃圾邮件功能，开启它将只允许至少在以太坊上发送过一笔交易（nonce > 0）的钱包与用户开始新的对话。而设置黑名单，则可帮用户阻止接收个别用户的消息。

在用户隐私和数据存储方面，Blockscan 表示，其信息是通过「全球托管服务提供商」存储的，服务器分布在多个地区，24 个月后不活动的数据将会被删除。此外，这些信息不会被交易给第三方，但会被披露或转移给合作方，如数据仓库、IT 服务提供商和数据分析机构。

而根据其服务条款，用户违反任何其可接受使用政策，如提供了虚假、不准确或误导性信息后，都可能被禁止使用 Blockscan 和 Etherscan 的部分或全部相关服务。

适用于哪些场景

目前，一些人已经将 Blockscan Chat 非正式地称为了 EIM（Ethereum Instant Messenger 以太坊即时通信），推特上一些加密圈用户及 Kol 也纷纷晒出自己的测试截图，表达了对于该产品的或喜欢或调侃。

此外，有加密用户表示 Blockscan Chat 还将成为匿名用户之间沟通的一个重要工具，该服务甚至可能对 NFT 市场交易有所帮助。如在 NFT 交易过程中，买卖双方可直接通过 Blockscan Chat 就 NFT 购买进行谈判，双方则都可以降低与 OpenSea 等平台相关的费用。

同时，Blockscan Chat 也可作为与黑客进行对话的一个平台。去年，Poly Network 遭受黑客攻击被盗 6.11 亿美元的安全事件中，黑客在盗取巨大资金后，还不断通过自身以太坊地址频繁收发信息，与 Poly Network 进行了持续的对话。而他并不是第一个这么做的用户，许多白帽黑客也经常通过钱包地址发消息来警告一个项目的智能合约漏洞等。

中心化的 Blockscan Chat 会昙花一现吗？

一直以来，以太坊用户其实都可以用钱包地址来进行彼此间交流，「链上通信」也是一个切实存在的需求。

如一站式通信平台 Status，便集成了隐私通信、去中心化加密钱包和 Web3 浏览器在内的多种功能。不过，由于以太坊自身网络的特性，链上交易 gas 费用高昂且易于拥堵，虽然链上通信有部分人一直在用，但却很难做到普及。

此外，以太坊上还有一些被用作通信的方式，但过程却较为复杂繁琐，因此也很难流通开来。

其中，使用较多的一个 IDM（Input Data Messages 数据输入类信息）功能，一些项目在初期宣传时就会选择直接向热门地址发送 IDM。具体来说，IDM 是通过以太坊交易中的输入数据字段发送的消息，该字段主要用于通知区块链交易中合约调用的详情，不过由于这些数据都是以十六进制形式录入，所以还要先对其进行解码。

但不管怎么样，Blockscan Chat 相对它们而言仍是一个中心化的工具，这与加密社区的精神是背道而驰的。或许它的出现，更多的还是作为 Etherscan 上方便以太坊用户进行简单即时沟通的一个工具，以弥补这一功能的缺失，而是否去中心化、端对端加密反而没作为首要考虑的因素。
