Those who think that Ethereum Layer 2 will kill other Layer 1 public chains are wrong.
Existing Ethereum projects must embrace the Ethereum Layer 2 user base and the liquidity that is already on the Ethereum mainnet. However, it is difficult for new projects to choose Ethereum Layer 2 without other public chains, because for new users, the user experience of Ethereum Layer 2 is too bad.
If a new user wants to use Ethereum Layer 2, then he needs to go from the centralized trading platform to the Ethereum main network and then to Ethereum Layer 2; and if it is other Layer 1 Public chain, then you only need to go from the centralized trading platform to the public chain.
The speed of other public chains to obtain network effects may be faster than that of Ethereum Layer 2, allowing users to bypass the Ethereum main network and interact directly with themselves, and eliminate the delay in withdrawing funds faster. But if there is any Ethereum Layer 2 that really does this, then it is not Ethereum Layer 2, but another public chain. At that time, the value accumulation of the Ethereum mainnet has nothing to do with network expansion, only transaction fees remain, that is, Ethereum has become a rentier country.
Layer2 will help Ethereum maintain market share, but it will not allow Ethereum's market share to go further.
