On April 7, Andras Kristof, co-founder and CEO of Ether Cards, and COO Benjamin Ong sat down with the AMA to talk about how Ether Cards was created, what's next for the project, and where it's going. At the same time, the development of the field of NFT briefly expressed views. Andras Kristof believes that there is definitely some overpriced NFT in the NFT space right now, but the market will find a balance.
Andras Kristof:Hi, I'm Andras and I'm the founder of Ether Cards. Our team started to enter the blockchain industry in 2013, when the price of Bitcoin was only $10 and ETH was not even born. We deployed Asia's first Bitcoin ATM in Singapore in February 2014. Then we branched Ripple into a distributed asset management platform, we don't use XRP, so it can't be manipulated, and we added Monroe's ring signature, so it has more privacy.
But in the end, we abandoned the project and have continued to work on Ethereum since its inception. We've worked with well-known companies like ConsenSys and the Ethereum Foundation. We keep a low profile and have worked on a number of projects behind the scenes.
We started exploring the NFT space more than two years ago, and now we're putting all of our ideas and past experience into the Ether Cards project. Essentially, the purpose of Ether Cards is to turn a static NFT into a dynamic one by adding utility and functionality, and our platform will showcase a different infrastructure than any other trading platform in the past.
Andras Kristof:Our team has been working on Ethereum since its inception, and we jumped on the NFT technology as soon as it was being used, trying to connect real-world objects with their digital versions.
In a sense, we were ahead of our time, and now that the NFT space has become a very well known technology globally, we think it's time to take it to the next level. People want NFT to be more than just a pretty thing on a computer screen.
That's what we're going to do, with Ether Cards turning a simple creation into a membership card, passport, social ID, etc. It can unlock events, promotions, missions, bonuses. They can even level up, morph, and grow, acquiring different attributes and characteristics that can be carried over into other products and services.
Andras Kristof:There are certainly some overpriced NFTs, but the market will find a balance. Art is very subjective, no matter what the field of art is so. That's why one person says it's worth a million dollars, and the next person says it's worth nothing. Ether Cards will change that, adding utility, service, and functionality to NFT and making it easier for everyone to understand the true value of our NFT, whether they like art or not.
In fact, our artwork is doing a very interesting experiment called "accidental collaboration." We commissioned a number of artists to create art on 5 different layers. Any work of art from level 1 can be combined with any work from level 2, and so on. We've created thousands of incredible pieces of art this way, including as many as five artists who submitted their artwork without seeing any of each other's work. People love these works of art because it's incredible.
Andras Kristof:As I mentioned above, the value of NFT no longer depends solely on whether the art is acceptable to anyone. The significance of Yiteca NFT is much more than art. Art is just icing on the cake. But beyond that, we want the NFT to be designed so that the holder can interact with the card artist or creator. This is something that has never been done before in both crypto art and traditional art.
Andras Kristof:People will accept it 100 per cent. I mean, Bitcoin is also an "invisible" thing, but it has already changed the world in a huge way. Ether Cards NFT takes this to a whole new level, focusing on the utility and functionality of these unique items. And the recent sale of one of Beeple's works of art for $69 million illustrates people's love of the digital world. I'd also love to see digital objects take their place in the physical world, because that's one of the next areas people should be looking at.
Andras Kristof:The special part about Ether Cards is hard to say, because there are so many. What I think about is that these cards seem to be like little living things, because they will continue to grow and change over time, depending on the owner's style. They can collect shards and level up, you can combine cards to make it more powerful, and we'll be rolling out a series of skill trees soon that users can use to upgrade their cards and focus on specific industries.
One card could focus on the music industry, the next on sports, another on programming, and the next on offline entertainment.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of many surprising and unique features of Ether Cards.
Andras Kristof:As you said, fairness is very important, and to achieve this goal, Ether Cards has teamed up with ChainLink to use ChainLink's VRF system to make their prophecy machine realistic and reliable for random allocation.
This allows you to randomly assign certain features, blind boxes, raffle tickets, and so on in a safe and transparent way. Off-chain random generators are opaque, but most on-chain random generators can be manipulated. That's why, after looking at a number of different potential solutions, we chose Chainlink's VRF.
Andras Kristof:Yes, our sales on the first day have been incredible and we are so grateful to the community for their support. We believe the reason it's so popular is because people are starting to realize that NFT is more than just art, and of course, NFT has been incredible in terms of art, but that's not the limit of the technology's potential. Ether Cards is the first project to explore in a truly unrestricted way. We believe this potential is what people see in our projects.
It's not too late to buy. Now, a limited number of 10,000 of the Founder's collectible cards are on sale. Holders receive many bonuses and bonus upgrades that will never be available again, including lifetime benefits on the platform. The sale will end on April 8th, so please join us as soon as possible:https://sale.ether.cards
Andras Kristof:Yes, as we mentioned before, we are working on the Star system. This allows users to upgrade cards, collect stars, and purchase blind boxes. Eventually, we will extend this feature to allow users to upgrade their cards with special skills that they can choose from a unique skill tree. We've also just announced the launch of a foundry that allows you to merge cards to upgrade them, merging them to become rarer and more powerful.
But the most exciting feature we're working on right now is Battle Royale. In battle, you could win a 1955 Jaguar Model D classic, worth about $7 million. We will be announcing more details about this event shortly, but there will be discounted tickets for etheric card holders. So if you buy a card by the end of tomorrow, you have a chance to get a double bonus.
Andras Kristof:Yes, we believe NFT will interact with many areas of many industries, not just the most expensive ones. In the near future, we see NFT as a big player in sports shoes, toys, collectibles, art, vehicles, machinery, and more.
Andras Kristof:After the sale, we will continue to complete and launch the Ether Cards platform, and we are also very focused on horizontal development projects in the sense of partnership, collaboration and integration with other markets.
Benjamin Ong:We sell NFT, and the visuals are in the form of cards.
Andras Kristof:For holders of Ether Cards, yes. We also have bonuses and other giveaways, which will be announced through our announcement channel. We gave away eight free cards a few weeks ago. They cost up to $8,000 each.
Andras Kristof:We haven't decided yet, but we'll give the team feedback on your needs.
Andras Kristof:We are about to set up a community in China and we are looking forward to your participation.
