BlockBeats news, November 8 - According to Bloomberg, Binance has announced that Chief Financial Officer Kaiser Ng will be leaving, with Justin Yek taking over as CFO. This personnel change was announced several days after a $6.3 billion crypto asset theft occurred on the platform.
Binance co-CEO Yi He stated that Ng has decided to pursue new endeavors, and the transition plan has been progressing over the past 6 months. She expressed her wishes for Ng's success in his next chapter.
According to Ng's LinkedIn profile, he joined Binance in January 2022, having previously worked at another crypto trading platform, Kraken, for about 5 years. As of the report's publication, Ng had not responded to Bloomberg's request for comment sent via LinkedIn. Successor Yek most recently served as Vice President of Finance at payment platform Airwallex.
Yek stated, "I am delighted to serve as Binance's Chief Financial Officer and look forward to leading the finance team as the company continues to scale responsibly and fulfill our mission globally."
This transition announcement follows the largest theft in the crypto industry to date suffered by Binance. The FBI attributed the attack to North Korea on October 31. Binance subsequently stated that it had replenished approximately 90% of the stolen assets and continues to advance its commitment to fully compensate customers.
