Beating AI News Flash: Anthropic launches Claude Personal Finance beta. Users can connect bank, credit card, loan, and investment accounts via Plaid, allowing Claude to read balances and up to two years of transaction history, directly answering questions like "Where did my money go this month?" and "How much do I have left before payday?"
Claude can aggregate income and expenses across different accounts, identify duplicate charges, unusual fees, and subscription bills that keep rising in price, and also generate spending charts, bill calendars, and personal finance dashboards.
Users must authorize access themselves; Claude cannot obtain bank login passwords, and permissions are read-only — it cannot transfer funds or trade. Even when investment accounts are connected, it can currently only view basic information such as balances, and cannot see specific stock holdings or transaction records.
Currently, it is being rolled out in batches only to paid Pro, Max, and Ultra users in the United States. ChatGPT launched a similar service as early as May this year and now covers free users in the United States.
