BlockBeats news, November 5 - Brazilian crypto trading platform Mercado Bitcoin released its latest update stating that the platform will gradually resume services through its official website starting next Monday (November 9). In the first phase, only website login will be opened for users to check balances, bills, assets, and portfolios; deposit, withdrawal, and trading functions will be gradually opened after each module completes final security verification.
The platform reiterated that customers will not lose assets due to this security incident, and account balances remain recorded in their respective accounts; Mercado Bitcoin will use its own funds to cover incident-related assets and is preparing to initiate necessary buybacks in domestic and international markets. The company stated that through collaboration with Tether, Circle, Paxos, BRL1, Chainalysis, and the crypto community, more than $15 million in equivalent assets have been frozen to prevent attackers from transferring or cashing out, and recovery efforts continue.
Regarding the recovery pace, Mercado Bitcoin stated that the platform is an integrated system covering custody, deposits, trading, and balance management, and restarting is not simply bringing servers online; each environment and trading process is undergoing independent stress testing; the investigation is still ongoing and in coordination with authorities. The company also stated that it recently received $20 million in funding from Tether for business expansion (not liquidity emergency relief), and has historically received approximately $300 million in cumulative investment from SoftBank, 10T Holdings, Tribe Capital, and others.
