CNN initial poll: About one-fifth of former Trump supporters disapprove of his performance.

BlockBeats news, November 4 — According to preliminary national results from CNN voter polls, voters are broadly dissatisfied with the state of the country, the economy, and President Donald Trump's job performance.

About three-quarters of voters nationwide said they are dissatisfied or worse with the direction of the country, and about four in ten voters even described themselves as "angry."

Preliminary results show two factors driving this dissatisfaction: negative views of Trump and discontent with current economic conditions. How these factors will play out in specific races remains to be seen — especially in some states where Republicans hold a dominant advantage but competitive Senate races have unexpectedly emerged.

About six in ten voters nationwide disapprove of Trump's job performance, with about half saying they strongly disapprove. Among voters who supported Trump in 2024, about one-fifth now disapprove of his performance.

The share of voters saying inflation has caused them hardship is roughly comparable to 2024. But this time, many voters directly blame Trump. About two-thirds of voters believe he has worsened the U.S. economic situation, and most attribute rising prices directly to his policies rather than to factors beyond his control.

Most voters doubt whether Trump has the right priorities and believe he puts his personal interests above the national interest. Although the president urged his base to vote as if he were on the ballot himself, fewer than one-fifth of voters said their House vote was meant to support Trump, while the rest said they voted against Trump or that Trump was not a deciding factor in their vote.

About three-quarters of voters described the economy as poor, and about nine in ten said the cost of living was a "key" factor or a major factor in their vote choice.
