Ethereum EIP-8450 Proposal Update: Introducing Quantum-Resistant Validator Public Key Registration Mechanism

BlockBeats news, October 29 - According to the Ethereum GitHub discussion page, the EIP-8450 proposal has recently been updated, proposing to introduce a quantum-resistant public key registration mechanism for Ethereum validators, adopting hash-based cryptographic schemes, including leanXMSS keys and VRF tree roots, to enhance the validator key system's protection against future quantum computing threats.

This update clarifies that registration and replacement of quantum-resistant keys are authorized by BLS signing keys, with a replacement delay of at least one Epoch and an anti-replay mechanism. The proposal is currently still in the Draft stage and has not yet been deployed.
