BlockBeats news, October 26: Chinese well-known self-media account "Media Storm" recently went overseas to the X platform. As its first promotional campaign since its debut, Media Storm launched an event offering 100 iPhones to users who follow, repost, and like related tweets. As of press time, the related promotional video has reached 4.87 million impressions, with likes and reposts both exceeding 100,000, and Tim Pan's account followers have quickly risen to 302,000. Judging from the exposure, interaction, and follower growth data, the communication effect of this overseas debut is quite direct.
However, while the traffic took off, the winner list brought another layer of discussion.
According to BlockBeats statistics, among the 100 winning accounts selected by grok for this campaign, nearly 70% have fewer than 100 followers, and a large number of account handles are random character combinations (generally flagged as characteristics of bulk registration). In addition, at least 20 accounts have posted tweets related to crypto airdrop farming, Web3 airdrops, and NFTs.
BlockBeats believes this result is not surprising. From the NFT boom to later project airdrops and then to the stage where "engagement farming" prevailed, X accounts have always been the most basic interaction tool for Web3 airdrop farming studios. After airdrop farming studios scale up the number of X accounts, a lottery originally intended for ordinary users becomes a low-cost, high-payout probability game.
It should be noted that Media Storm had previously verified the communication power of similar campaigns on domestic platforms. Its related lottery campaign held on Bilibili in September this year once received more than 2.2 million reposts and likes. This shows that the traffic itself is not the problem, but X's ecosystem is clearly more complex.
