BlockBeats news, October 22: Haseeb Qureshi, managing partner at Dragonfly, stated that global cybersecurity is experiencing a wave of hacker attacks akin to a COVID-19 pandemic, and the crypto industry has already been the first to undergo this trend. He believes that because on-chain attacks are the easiest to monetize directly, security incidents in crypto protocols can be seen as an early warning of cybersecurity risks across the entire internet. Currently, the number of hacker attacks in the crypto industry has surged sharply, but the annualized level of total stolen funds is roughly comparable to 2025, meaning the average loss per attack has declined.
Haseeb pointed out that attackers are concentrating on small DeFi protocols with weak security measures and insufficient maintenance, while large protocols have begun using AI tools to strengthen defenses. He expects that similar large-scale attack trends will also spread to the traditional internet industry.
