Dragonfly Partner Haseeb Qureshi Denies Polymarket CEO Misappropriated Company Funds

BlockBeats news, October 21 - Haseeb Qureshi, Managing Partner at Dragonfly and early investor in Polymarket, stated in a post that claims about Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan being caught using company funds to pay for private jet flights and other expenses are "complete nonsense" and an unfounded smear report.

Haseeb stated that Shayne founded Polymarket at just 21 years old, did not take a salary at the time, ran the company from his apartment, and lived frugally. Dragonfly was one of the first institutions to offer him investment terms, and even proposed providing a personal loan to Shayne. Shayne disclosed every expense, and the related costs annualized amounted to roughly equivalent to a software engineer's salary, including flight expenses that did not involve private travel.

Haseeb also emphasized that Shayne proactively initiated the accounting and refund process, rather than being asked to refund only after investors discovered the issue. Ultimately, he fully repaid the relevant amounts to the company and subsequently began receiving a salary like other employees. Haseeb characterized this as an accounting treatment issue rather than an integrity issue, and stated that Dragonfly remains fully confident in Shayne and his leadership. He noted that Polymarket has grown from a small startup into one of the fastest-growing and most influential consumer brands in the United States, and called on the public to stop spreading related negative news.
