BlockBeats news, October 14 - Macro analyst Chris Anstey stated that the latest communications from Federal Reserve policymakers indicate they have not laid the groundwork for consecutive rate hikes in October. Today's stronger-than-expected core CPI increase may not be enough to change this, but it will reinforce expectations for further tightening by the Fed. The September rate hike is almost certainly not a "one-off action." The overall CPI rose by 3.7% year-over-year, the largest increase since May. This pace also significantly outpaces wage growth, so workers' real incomes are unfortunately shrinking. Average hourly earnings fell by 0.7% year-over-year in September. For the US government, this is not a favorable data point ahead of the midterm elections.
