Anatomy goes open source: turning technical principles into animated machines with a single sentence

Beating AI News Flash: Developer Ryan has open-sourced an AI drawing Skill called Anatomy, currently supporting Claude Code, OpenCode, and Codex. Users only need to describe a technical concept they want explained in one sentence, and the AI will design a machine on its own, demonstrating the principle through the movement of parts. The generated works can also be operated with a mouse or keyboard.

For example, to explain LRU cache (which prioritizes clearing the least recently used data), the AI will design a bookshelf that can move books. To explain how a mechanical watch operates, it can draw a mechanical device that can be wound, have its speed adjusted, and have its gears disassembled. More complex works include the Raptor rocket engine used by SpaceX's Starship, which can be broken down into 11 groups of components and can also simulate ignition. The official website currently showcases 33 major works.

Anatomy first studies the relevant principles and parameters, then designs parts, draws graphics, and adds animations. The movement and numerical readouts in the visuals are controlled by the same computational model and change synchronously during operation. It also has a built-in automatic inspection tool that can detect issues such as part intersections and occlusion errors. The final output is modifiable webpage code that can be opened independently or embedded into a website. The author has also packaged existing works into a component library for developers to use directly.

The project has been open-sourced under the MIT license. However, producing detailed works takes a long time. The author disclosed that the mechanical watch took nearly 2 hours, and the Raptor rocket engine took more than 10 hours. The 3D feature is still in the testing phase.
