According to PolyBeats monitoring, as of October 12, the BTC price is approximately $84.12k, still $5.88k away from $90k, requiring a rise of about 7%. On the prediction market Polymarket, pomelopeel, a member of the @InsidersDotBot team, bought $1.95k on "No" for "Can BTC hit $90k in October?" at an implied probability of 68.99%. The case for BTC hitting $90k is that it is not a distant yearly target, but an intraday threshold about 7% away from the current level. BTC has already touched $87.22k this month. As long as it reclaims that high and extends the breakout, a single short-term rally would satisfy the rule — there is no need to hold $90k through month-end.
The countervailing factor is that spot ETF flows have just turned weaker. Farside data shows that from October 5 to 9, U.S. spot BTC ETFs saw a combined net outflow of approximately $679m; of that, $484.9m flowed out on October 7 and another $244.1m on October 8. Although October 9 turned into a small net inflow of $21.1m, it was not enough to reverse the week's withdrawals.
