Beating AI News Flash: Anthropic's newly released Claude Haiku 5.5 is exerting a "kill line"-like competitive pressure on domestic low-cost models. On October 8, Hong Kong-listed large model companies weakened collectively, with MiniMax falling more than 9% and Zhipu dropping more than 6%. Over the same period, the Hang Seng Tech Index fell about 1%.
Haiku 5.5's base API input price is $0.1 per million tokens, with output at $0.5. By comparison, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash charges $0.3 and $1.2 during peak hours, respectively, dropping to $0.15 and $0.6 during off-peak hours. Zhipu GLM-5.3 Flash's standard prices are $0.15 and $0.5. When input does not exceed 100,000 tokens, Haiku 5.5 already has clear per-unit price competitiveness.
Artificial Analysis gave Haiku 5.5 a composite intelligence index score of 43, surpassing GLM-5.3 Flash's 42, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash's 39, and Xiaomi MiMo-V2.6-Flash's 38. In the Terminal-Bench 4.0 coding evaluation, Haiku 5.5 and GLM-5.3 Flash both scored 33%, higher than DeepSeek's 27% and MiMo's 23%.
However, Haiku 5.5's advantages are mainly reflected in its base unit price and performance at the highest reasoning intensity. Its token consumption is relatively high, and long context also triggers fivefold pricing.
