Scan to Download the APP

A user downloaded a fake wallet from Huawei's official store and had 170,000 USDT stolen.

BlockBeats news, October 5th, a Douyin user (Mr. Li Yi) posted a video on social media claiming that on June 10th of this year, due to downloading a "fake wallet" from the official Huawei store, his mnemonic phrase was exposed and 177,473 USDT were stolen.

According to the description, the hacker converted his wallet address permissions to multi-signature, and then carried out a secondary scam claiming that it could be "unlocked for a fee." After the victim transferred the money, all the USDT in the address was transferred away by the hacker. Because he posted a video exposing the app's violations, causing the app's downloads in the official store to plummet, the hacker repeatedly gathered paid trolls to report his video, forcing it to be taken down, and privately tried to communicate to reach an agreement on "deleting the video under certain conditions."

The victim stated that after a private investigation, he learned that the scam app had deployed 5 servers in Hong Kong, paid to have the app listed on the official Huawei store and improve its ranking, causing a large number of victims to preferentially download the scam app in searches. Due to relevant bans in mainland China, related wallet apps cannot be normally listed on the store, so apps that "cannot be listed but indeed exist in the store" may all be fake scam apps.
