BlockBeats news, October 1: Lido responded on social media to MetaMask's earlier statement that it "will proactively exit some affected validators to maintain the security of its non-custodial staking business," saying:
stETH holders do not need to take any action. ETH withdrawn from validators operated by MetaMask Staking is expected to gradually return to the protocol as the relevant validators complete the exit, withdrawal, and re-entry cycle. Due to the long entry queue, the process is estimated to take up to about 45 days.
Lido protocol's diversified node operator set and other security systems, including a temporary reserve fund (over 6,750 stETH), are designed to contain and mitigate disruptions to the protocol's normal operations and provide other potential response avenues.
BlockBeats previously reported that MetaMask said it is handling a security incident affecting some infrastructure. As a precautionary measure, it is working with clients, partners, and security advisors to proactively exit the affected validators to maintain the security of its non-custodial staking business.
