SK Hynix begins construction of Japanese memory chip plant

According to industry insiders, SK Hynix has started foundation work for a semiconductor plant in the Tohoku region of Japan. An industry source said it is still unclear whether the plant is being built solely by SK Hynix or as a joint venture with Kioxia, but foundation work has indeed begun locally, reflecting SK Hynix's intention to enter the Japanese market.

Additionally, the source revealed that SK Hynix recently asked domestic South Korean component suppliers to increase their supply volumes, indicating the company is actively responding to the tight supply of memory chips.
