Zhipu's Latest Statement: MaaS Platform to Launch with No Data Retention, Inputs and Outputs No Longer Stored on Disk

Beating AI News Flash: Zhipu's MaaS platform has announced that it will soon launch a "no data content retention" feature. After users apply for activation, the inputs and outputs of ordinary model calls will no longer be statically stored on the platform side, and the data will only be used to complete that specific call.

However, not all data will be left unretained. Features that require persistent data, such as Batch API and File API, are not covered; requests suspected of violations or abuse may also be switched to retention and kept for 30 days or more.

This type of mechanism is usually called ZDR (Zero Data Retention), and model platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, and Mistral already provide it. It is mainly aimed at sensitive data such as code and enterprise documents that users do not want left on model vendors' servers.

Recently, Zhipu's ZCode fell into controversy because it uploaded user repository data by default. Zhipu has publicly apologized and promised to open-source it for review. Today, another company sent a letter demanding that Zhipu explain where the uploaded data has gone and how it has been deleted.

Zhipu did not say that this MaaS change is related to the ZCode incident.
