Opinion: Fed rate hikes 'fundamentally unnecessary,' overall economy stable

BlockBeats news, September 12 - Liz Miller, founder and president of U.S. wealth management firm Summit Place Financial Advisors, stated that although the market widely expects the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates next week, given the overall stability of the economy, further tightening of policy is "fundamentally unnecessary."

Miller said, "I think most investors believe the Fed will raise rates next week, and I also think the probability is high. But it is fundamentally unnecessary. I would love to hear the discussions at the decision-making table, because some Fed governors firmly believe that action is needed to preempt a rise in overall inflation and bring it back to the 2% target.

However, if we look at the rest of the economy with patience, its performance is actually quite stable, and I am not sure whether a comprehensive rate hike is truly necessary. We can continue to observe whether the rise in oil prices will pass through to other areas and watch core inflation gradually decline."
