Citrini Research acquired by SemiAnalysis, founder plans to launch new fund

动察 Beating AI News Flash: James van Geelen, founder of Citrini Research, the institution behind the "AI Doomsday Report," has sold the company to chip and AI research firm SemiAnalysis for an undisclosed sum. Van Geelen will temporarily remain as Citrini CEO and plans to establish a new fund.

Citrini currently has approximately 260,000 subscribers on Substack and rose to prominence in February this year after publishing "The 2028 Global Intelligence Crisis" report. The report envisioned AI rapidly replacing white-collar jobs, sparking market discussions about AI's impact on employment and the economy, and at one point caused notable effects on software stocks.

SemiAnalysis was founded by Dylan Patel in 2020 and has long focused on semiconductor and AI infrastructure research. Patel stated that the acquisition aims to expand research scale and explore new forms of investment research in the AI era.

Van Geelen himself did not disclose specific information about the new fund. The deal also means that after rapidly expanding its influence, Citrini will further integrate with SemiAnalysis's semiconductor and AI research capabilities.
