Beating AI News Flash: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said at this week's all-hands meeting that the company could consider slowing down frontier AI development, and that it would be best if several leading AI companies slowed down together. But he also acknowledged that not all companies would agree.

OpenAI Chief Scientist Jakub Pachocki publicly stated this week that no lab has yet solved alignment and monitoring problems reliably enough to continue scaling models at maximum speed over the long term. He hopes companies will voluntarily slow down before a unified safety threshold is established.

OpenAI has in fact already slowed development of some models recently and has paused some internal training due to safety concerns.
