Arthur Hayes Announces: Flop Labs Yellow Paper Officially Open for Technical Review

BlockBeats news, September 10 — BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes posted that the Flop Labs yellow paper is now live and open to the community for technical review.

The yellow paper is a research draft specification for the FLOP protocol. The current version is v0.5.0, and it primarily describes an inference metering and settlement layer built on the Substrate/FRAME runtime, employing BABE block production and AlephBFT finality.

The team emphasized that the yellow paper is still in draft stage. Some security and performance conclusions are protocol requirements, conditional mathematical results, or empirical tests, while other conclusions still lack publicly reproducible evidence.

FLOP has also disclosed the open issues in the specification, implementation status, evidence records, and reproducible data, and invites the community to focus its review on key areas including the verification mechanism, FLOP metering, miner and validator economic models, dispute resolution mechanism, and data availability.

On the roadmap, the project plans to launch a testnet in Q4 2026, with token airdrops tied to test participation, followed by a mainnet launch in Q1 2027. As it is still in the yellow paper draft stage, some parameters and mechanisms may still be adjusted later.
