Originally equipped only with a coffee machine, refrigerator, and snacks, it now features a circle of desks. Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Google DeepMind head Koray Kavukcuoglu, and other core members often work here, while Google CEO Sundar Pichai also drops by several times a week. Employees directly call it "Sergey's micro-kitchen."

Brin holds no formal management role but leverages his founder status to bypass Google's complex approval processes. When the Gemini team normally requests chips like TPUs, they need to draft materials and seek senior approval; going to the kitchen to find Brin offers a more direct alternative. He also directly engages in discussions on model scale, release timing, and AGI roadmap, with Gemini's coding strike team setting up desks right next to him. One former employee described Brin as wanting to run Gemini like a startup.

This year, Brin also pushed for software to record coding processes of some Google employees, using that data for reinforcement learning to enhance Gemini's coding capabilities. Last year, he directly halted the Frozen chip project led by Jeff Dean, which only resumed later in the form of Frozen v2.
