BlockBeats News, September 9 - The Korea Exchange will launch after-hours stock trading starting September 14, with trading hours from 16:00 to 20:00 on each trading day, covering the vast majority of listed stocks on the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets, with up to 2,651 stocks available for trading.
The after-hours trading will introduce a market maker system to provide quotes and liquidity support for stocks with insufficient liquidity, marking the first time market makers have been introduced in Korea's after-hours stock market.
To strengthen investor protection, market orders will be prohibited in after-hours trading, with only order types such as limit orders, best limit orders, and best market-to-limit orders allowed. Meanwhile, stocks under investment warnings, investment risk alerts, managed status, trading suspensions, and those not traded on the main market during the day will be excluded from after-hours trading.
Currently, Korea's alternative trading platform NXT offers trading in approximately 800 stocks at most. With the Korea Exchange launching after-hours trading, the range of stocks available to investors will significantly expand.
