DeepSeek has not publicly confirmed this figure, but expansion is already underway. In June, the company announced plans to at least double the size of all departments, and this week it opened up around 150 recruitment slots for backend and Agent infrastructure roles in a single batch.

This round of expansion is no longer solely focused on model research. The latest job openings now cover large model research platforms, Agent frameworks, APIs, online services, data engineering, and elastic computing. Cui Tianyi, head of the Harness team, noted that data, machines, training and evaluation tasks, Agent environments, and user requests are all growing rapidly, requiring continuous upgrades or even rewrites of the existing backend systems.
