Gates believes that AI could replace cognitive labor in various industries faster than previous technological revolutions, leaving the unemployed insufficient time to transition to new creative positions. Currently, white-collar jobs such as sales, customer support, software engineering, and legal assistants have been affected, and in the future, AI may also take on tasks such as loan assessment, data analysis, and patient triage.
